E1 Plus Electronic Motor Overload Protection
The Allen-Bradley 193-EEGE is a three-phase electronic overload relay from the Bulletin 193 E1 Plus family. It provides adjustable motor-current protection over an 18–90 A range and is designed for use with compatible Allen-Bradley IEC contactors.
Unlike a conventional thermal overload relay, the E1 Plus uses electronic sensing to monitor motor current and detect overload conditions. Its self-powered design eliminates the need for a separate auxiliary power supply connection for the relay's operating electronics.
A wide 5:1 adjustment range allows one relay model to cover multiple motor full-load current requirements. This can simplify spare-parts planning in installations using compatible contactor assemblies.

Adjustable Protection for Different Motor Loads
The 193-EEGE offers four selectable trip classes: 10, 15, 20 and 30. This allows the protection response to be selected according to the motor's starting characteristics and the application requirements.
The relay also provides manual and automatic reset selection. The appropriate reset mode should be chosen according to the machine's operating sequence and safety requirements; automatic reset should not be used where an unexpected restart could create a hazard.
Its electronic protection features include:
- Three-phase overload monitoring
- Phase-loss protection
- Ambient-temperature compensation
- Adjustable trip class
- Manual or automatic reset selection
- Visible trip indication
- One normally open and one normally closed isolated auxiliary contact
The auxiliary contacts can be incorporated into control circuits for trip signalling, interlocking and status indication.

Contactor Compatibility and Installation
Rockwell specifies the 193-EEGE for use with Bulletin 100-C60 through 100-C97 IEC contactors or Bulletin 300-D contactors.
The relay is installed as part of the motor starter assembly. Its current setting must correspond to the motor's rated full-load current and the applicable protection requirements.
The screw-terminal version is identified by the 193-EEGE catalog number. The Bulletin 193-EE family also includes versions with optional cage-clamp control terminals, so terminal construction should be checked when comparing older installations or alternative catalog numbers.
The device has an IP20 rating and is intended for installation inside a suitable electrical enclosure.
Selecting the Correct E1 Plus Current Range
The 193-EEGE belongs to the higher-current portion of the E1 Plus range. Rockwell's historical product selection includes other current ranges under the same Bulletin 193 family.
| Product Range | Current Adjustment Range | Selection Consideration |
|---|---|---|
| 193-ED versions | 0.1–27 A | Lower-current E1 Plus configurations |
| 193-EE versions | Model-dependent, up to 800 A | Higher-current E1 Plus configurations |
| 193-EEGE | 18–90 A | Three-phase, 18–90 A version |
The 193-EEGE should not be selected simply because the motor is described as a medium-sized or high-current motor. Confirm the motor full-load current and the actual current adjustment range before ordering.
Discontinued Product and Replacement Information
Rockwell Automation discontinued the 193-EEGE effective July 31, 2021. Its official product page identifies 193-1EFGE as the direct replacement.
The successor belongs to the newer electronic overload relay product generation. It should be treated as a replacement-selection reference rather than assumed to be identical in dimensions, wiring, accessories or installation details.
For an existing E1 Plus installation, compare the original contactor, control wiring, mounting arrangement, protection requirements and available panel space before changing to the replacement model.
The original 193-EEGE remains a useful identification number for maintenance records and procurement of legacy equipment components.

Where This Relay Is Used
The 193-EEGE is intended for three-phase motor protection in compatible IEC motor starter assemblies.
Typical equipment contexts include:
- Industrial pumps and pumping systems
- Fans and ventilation equipment
- Compressors
- Conveyors and material-handling machinery
- General-purpose industrial motor starters
The actual suitability depends on motor current, starting duty, contactor compatibility and the required protection coordination.
